Went to see a friend’s friend’s band tonight in some absurd Upper East Side bar. They were fine, but the act that followed was this young lady, who sang to taped accompaniment some popular numbers including “Bust Your Windows.” She was splendid, and thanked us all for making her feel welcome in this, her first appearance on a public stage. (Though I expect she had sung in church a time or two.)
