“When X-raying spacesuits at the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum in 2008, photographer Mark Avino and conservator Ron Cunningham noted how artistic the gear appeared in scans. They were the first to practice using X-rays on historical space objects for further study. Fast forward to 2011 when the images were paired with their respective spacesuits for a traveling exhibit now on tour.

“’Suited for Space’ is an exhibit that explores the design and innovation inside a spacesuit. It features gear like the one pictured above, the EX-1A Apollo Applications Project suit. Built in 1968 as part of a program to develop spacesuits that could endure longer stays on the moon, it used materials that could operate at higher pressures.”

Coming to DC July 26.

These 11-Year-Olds Are Metal As Fuck

There is a metal band in Brooklyn called Unlocking The Truth that is made up of three 11-year-olds. They make every band in the nu-metal scene look like total garbage. Not that that was difficult.

These kids have some seriously dope metally riffs and breakdowns. Not sure when they have time to come up with those in between doing homework and…I don’t know, what do 11-year-olds do these days? We have no idea. Play Pokemon?

These little dudes are sick! That second song was heavy as fuck. They got some riffs that sounded reminiscent of Sabbath which is even more dope.

Cartoon history time, children! Gather around and listen to someone who knows waaaay too much about cartoons/comics.

So way back when, The Archie Show cartoon was a huge hit for some reason… Hanna-Barbera was all “WTF??” and wanted in on this action. They tried to make a band cartoon called the ‘Mystery Five’ but for whatever reason it never happened. Thankfully, it became “Scooby Doo Where Are You” instead. So H-B decided to take the easy way out and called Archie Comics and asked if there was another intellectual property they could make into a cartoon. Archie Comics, already surrendering their main cast PLUS Sabrina to Filmation, said they had another comic called ‘Josie/She’s Josie’ they could use.

H-B and Archie Comics decided to begin promoting the future cartoon, Josie and the Pussycats, by changing the Josie comics to fit it. Pepper and Albert (Josie’s/Alexandra’s love interest) were replaced by Valerie and Alan who H-B had planned to be in the cartoon. Pepper and Albert’s sudden disappearance was never explained, but Archie Comics created new stories that introduced Valerie and Alan.

The history goes on from here, including H-B suddenly deciding “lol nevermind we don’t want a black woman in this cartoon ever even though we have black men in our other cartoons sorry lol” and the 3 girls who won the contest to become the official singers getting rightfully PISSED about it. But I have that reblogged somewhere on here under a Valerie comic. ;)

But yeah. I wish Pepper and Albert just became background characters instead of being erased from the comics all together. I liked them. A lot. ;~;
